This dramatic pendant features a newly-developed technique of forging bark-like textural elements in steel. The result is the Griffin—a stunning arrangement of structure that balances the organic glass forms.
Hubbardton Forge and Simon Pearce—two, well-known Vermont makers—began a creative relationship in 2018, with the Griffin Pendant. “It’s amazing that two companies, only 60 miles apart, have taken this long to find one another for a collaboration” said David Kitts, Director of Design at Hubbardton Forge.
Simon Pearce worked with notable glassmakers across Europe, before he and his wife, Pia, opened their studio in Vermont over 35 years ago. Their handmade pieces come to life in the turbine-powered workshop from the rushing Ottauquechee River. Much like Hubbardton Forge, Simon Pearce believes "simplicity, quality and artisanship are tenets of a better way of life."
