Lisa Kanning Interior Design

We recently reached out to some of the outstanding designers using Hubbardton Forge lighting for their projects. Throughout the year, we’ll put the focus on the designers with a question and answer session to learn more about what powers their creativity and inspires their designs. For our first installment, we’re featuring  Lisa Kanning Interior Design out of Brooklyn, New York.

Lisa Kanning Design HF: How would you describe your design style?
LK: Clean lines and lots of texture.

HF: Where do you get your design inspiration?
LK: I get a lot of inspiration from traveling.  And I do a considerable amount of on-line research as well in trying to keep up w/ the latest trends & introductions.

HF: What are your favorite things about this space?
LK: I love a square dining table and the unconventional use of low benches instead of chairs simplifies the space and allows the live-edge slab of the walnut table top really become a focal point.

HF: What made you choose Hubbardton Forge lighting and that design?
LK: Great line at a good price point – lead times good and lots of finish options.  The Erlenmeyer was a good choice for this project as it has a modern sensibility, but can be transitional – also has a rustic feel to it. Used the exterior fixtures on this project as well and worked well to update a traditional mountain style.

HF: What showroom did you work with?
LK: Lighting by Gregory in NYC.
